I was familiar with the work of Brené Brown prior to attending the Dare to Lead workshop facilitated by Andrea, but even so I took away two major benefits.  First, it gave me tools and practice embracing my own vulnerability in a way that could empower the rest of my team, encouraging them to do the same.  Second, because we attended as a group, the workshop provided a catalyst for deep and meaningful team building with my peers through the shared experience

The reason Andrea worked with us is because I trust her and am comfortable talking to her about what goes on in the education world. She immediately saw a connection between our council, our communication with the school and with the community. She went above and beyond to create a program that worked with teachers, even bringing a former educator as a consultant, to create a program for us.   She took us through the workshop with care for our diverse group and levels of understanding. Andrea is a rare individual!  She is able to get leaders to simultaneously focus on both people and business strategy and show how the two intersect and how to focus on themselves and how they can deliver their best results.  She pushes leaders to lead with purpose, conviction, courage and passion.  Andrea was an incredible peer in our time working together and a focused facilitator/leader for our Dare to Lead course as well as our many other leadership exercises

I really got a lot out of the Dare to Lead workshop.  The workshop was well done and Andrea was an amazing facilitator.  She really pushed me to think about things in a different way.  Vulnerability in leadership is not natural for many people, especially me.  The workshop gave me some great tools and strategies to help me be a better leader.  As a team event, it really pushed us to share with each other in a much deeper way.  This was true regardless of whether the team member was onboarding or had been part of the team for years.  I highly recommend this experience for individuals and teams.

Largely due to Andrea’s leadership, Dare to Lead was the most compelling team and self-discovery workshop I have attended in the past 10 years. Andrea brought to life the concepts from the book by creating a safe learning environment and making it relatable to each of us through a combination of personal stories, small group activities, and individual reflection. This led to some raw and messy discussions, which Andrea adeptly navigated with a knack for knowing when to push deeper and when to back off. This wasn’t always easy—but, looking back, it made all the difference.  I strongly recommend Andrea Nelson as a leader of Dare to Lead and other team/self development/EI&D workshops. She is a clear technical expert, but what I really appreciate is her ability to go below the surface to bring the content to life in an authentic and impactful way.
